Elevate Incident Response with Securance's Executive-Level Training

Preparation and preparedness are paramount, especially in relation to cybersecurity. For businesses small and large, a data breach is no longer a question of if, but when. In our current environment, having a well-informed leadership team that can skillfully, and swiftly, respond to an incident is critical. Securance Consulting's Executive-Level Incident Response Training is designed to inform and equip C-level, legal, and PR executives with the knowledge and skills they need to lead their organizations through cyber crisis management.

The Critical Impact of Data Breaches

Data breaches often have devastating consequences for organizations and individuals. Beyond the immediate potential for financial losses, companies frequently face regulatory fines, as well as severe and sometimes irreparable damage to their reputations. In our current regulatory environment, non-compliance can lead to hefty fines under laws like GDPR, which protects personal data in the EU, and CCPA, which grants similar privacy rights to California residents. Additionally, the erosion and loss of customer trust and loyalty following a breach can have lasting repercussions, which can impact revenue, market position, and long-term viability.

Over the last several years, malicious data breaches have ramped up considerably. According to the Identity Theft Resource Center, there were 3205 documented data breaches in 2023, a 78-percent increase from 2022. Businesses worldwide have responded by increasing their cybersecurity budgets, spending $188 billion in 2023, with a projected increase to $215 billion in 2024, according to Gartner.

Forbes published an article highlighting the specifics of Morgan Stanley’s recent data breaches. The company was named in two 2020 class-action suits pertaining to two separate data breaches, one in 2016, the other in 2019. As a result of the breaches, Morgan Stanley was fined $60 million by the United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). In 2022, it was hit with yet another fine, this time for $35 million, due to data security lapses, including the sale of unencrypted hard drives from decommissioned data centers at auction without being wiped first, according to Ars Technica.

Needless to say, a data breach can wreak havoc on any organization, and planning for the worst is imperative. Executives must grasp the broader implications of a breach, especially their roles and responsibilities to mitigate damage. This awareness is why executive-level training isn’t just beneficial—it’s a necessity.
