Securance Cares: Bringing Security to the Community

At Securance, we care about more than just networks and information systems. As an information security consulting firm, we often measure “security” as the strength of an enterprise’s cyber defenses relative to its risk and threat profile. Yet, we also recognize that there are other kinds of security, such as stable sources of food and shelter.

One of our company’s core values is acting in the greater good. To us, this means doing what’s right for the business as a whole (not just one’s division or department) and, more importantly, bringing security, in the larger sense, to the communities around us. In the wake of 2017’s Hurricane Irma, Securance took the first steps toward establishing a formal corporate philanthropy program, donating five percent of company profits to disaster relief through the end of 2017.

This year, we’ve continued our humanitarian efforts by supporting Feeding Tampa Bay, a local food relief organization that delivers 3.5 million meals a month to “food insecure” children and adults throughout Tampa and the surrounding areas. Following an in-house food drive during the month of June, we spent our second quarter outing sorting food at Feeding Tampa Bay’s warehouse, where we learned that 1 in 4 children and 1 in 7 adults in Tampa do not know where their next meal will come from.
